It’s always hard to make a strong comeback when you’ve been away for a while. New Kids On The Block, Britney Spears and Van She all make good cases, to varying degrees, of how hard it can be to come back strong.

So here are a bunch of tracks I have been playing fairly hard lately. A track filled post is one way to ease back into the pleasures of blogging on the regular so here it is.

I met up with Shazam briefly when I was last in Perth and he’d just started to work on this remix. While it was different to this version the first draft was incredible considering he’d only started it in the afternoon and played it out that night.

Dizzee Rascal - Dance Wiv Me feat. Calvin Harris (Shazam remix)

Variously described as a “fat jam”, a “sweet jam” and a “strawberry jam” this track gets better with every listen. Joakim is coming out to Australia late November so keen an eye out for dates.

DJ Mehdi - Pocket Piano (Joakim remix)

I’ve never really been into Sydney boyfriend/girlfriend duo Wow but I’m enjoying this track and it’s made me go back over their catalogue on myspace. This was one of two tracks that both Luke and myself brought along to play on this weeks theHype.fm, so it’s not just me. And the Bumblebeez rock.

And speaking of comebacks I interviewed Gary Numan last week for our show on TheHype.fm. I say comeback but really Gary Numan has never gone away, putting out new material every couple of years and getting both critical acclaim and some chart success. We talked about his new stuff, finding his place in the world and the media as well as the role that the Mighty Boosh played in his resurgence.
