a few times nine times that same song

swedish low-fi indie pop rock wonder kids love is all have been a little quiet of late, which has been rather disappointing considering that their 2005 album ‘nine times that same song’ definitely reigned as one of the better exercises in swedish low-fi indie pop rock to be released that year. fortunately they now appear to be commencing their tentative emergence from hibernation with the january 21 release of a cd of remixes entitled ‘love is all…mixed up’. while entirely lacking in new content, the cd does come with the assurance that a new album is due for release in autumn 2008, so at least that’s something. in the meantime we’ll just have to make do with a sequence of remixes by artists like hot chip, the bees, maps, optimo and more. it’s not the worst substitute i could think of. included here for your satisfaction are optimo’s straight down the line four to the floor rendition of ‘busy doing nothing’ and metronomy’s quirky new new wave take on ’spinning and scratching’. and for the sake of contrast, i’ve also included the original version of spinning and scratching, because shit me if that doesn’t still remain one of the better rock tunes to have come out in the past decade. bring on the album i say.

Love Is All – Busy Doing Nothing (optimo remix)

Love Is All – Spinning and Scratching (metronomy remix)

Love Is All - Spinning and Scratching
